Meet the instructors
Samuel Cooksey
Samuel Cooksey is a dedicated swim instructor and one of the founders and owners of Cooksey’s Lifeguard and Swim Academy, a well-established organization with over 15 years of experience in swim instruction and safety training. He is also an owner of Happy Swimmers USA, a company with a 30-year legacy of teaching lifesaving aquatic skills.
Samuel’s journey in swim instruction began in 2005, and since then, he has helped over 1,000 children develop the confidence and skills necessary to become strong swimmers. Many of his former students have gone on to compete in collegiate swimming and water polo, a testament to his ability to inspire a love for the water. Beyond individual instruction, he has coached both competitive and non-competitive swim teams, reinforcing his passion for teaching and mentorship.
Hayley Church
Hayley Church is a seasoned lifeguard, swim instructor, and business owner with over 17 years of experience. Over the course of her career, she has personally taught over 1,500 people how to swim. Her vast experience spans nearly every type of teaching environment.
Throughout her career, Hayley has designed and implemented multiple impactful swim lesson programs, but she is particularly passionate about the curriculum in this Swim Instructor Certification Program. Her mission is to reduce drownings and prevent pool-related incidents nationwide by equipping instructors with the skills and knowledge to teach effectively.
Hayley is the owner and operator of both Cooksey’s Lifeguard and Swim Academy and Happy Swimmers USA. She overseas hiring and training of over 500 lifeguards and swim instructors per year.
Throughout her career, Hayley has designed and implemented multiple impactful swim lesson programs, but she is particularly passionate about the curriculum in this Swim Instructor Certification Program.
